Bear Rose Garden by 12 year old Tocoda Pierotti from Western Australia. A beautiful stitched version of Bear Rose Garden by a very clever and hardworking young embroiderer. Imagine what she will be doing in her twenties, international teaching and more. Next on her to do list is my Farmyard Animals and the Beary Rosy quilts, these are easy peasy compared to her first.

Handpainting Vintage Roses

Sorry about the lack of Posts, haven't been well, but will show you some of the handpainted Pre-Printed " Vintage Rose" Pom panels I have been working on for last months POM.

Original Cushion in the centre surounded by the many handpainted by moi ready to be packed along with ricrac, fabric, threads for my lovely POM stitcherers.An instant success when stitched.

English Rose

For all those ladies who have been waiting patiently for their BOM mailouts, yes they are coming to your mailbox now. 18 stitcheries, 17 iron-on, 11 with colour to make it so much more effective. I used soft rose fabrics from the Mary Rose collections from Lecien. The photography shows the pink sashing as pinky purple but it is a dusty pink.

10 Rose colour stitcheries, 1 large English Medieval Maiden centrepiece, 6 Rose quotes from English Poets or Writers and the Rose vine. Available over 10 months as pattern or full kit with starter threads and fabric. Very happy now.

New Quilt Labels

Been so busy getting ready for the annual AQC held at Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, celebrated a Birthday and stitching like crazy. My kids took me out to a little French Restuarant that is close by.

So I just wanted you all to know that I have finally drawn some new Quilt labels that include 2 crinoline ladies, a cottage, a matreska doll, cat and a rose. These labels are slightly larger than the previous 2 sets and now include 6 not 5 labels. Available on website today for $10. Another great gift idea.

Happily stitching the teacups together with some wonderful classic fabric from Westminster, my good Friend Fiona from Fi Fi's Fabricology gave it  to me for my birthday. Its a zinger not the KFC kind, beautiful French Reds, pinks and greens,  modern yet still a classic. Fiona will have the fabric on my stall at the AQC so please come and visit us.

Working a 5 sewing machines and a crinoline for another series of labels so watch this space.

Chocolate inspired

After consuming the beautiful dark chocolate Easter gifts I was inspired to stitch a crazy patch chocolate cake, it will be a sewing chocolate POM project for June or July, covered with sewing related buttons and a new wooden sewing machine scissor fob. So when all the chocolate is gone there is always chocolate fabric and threads. Very sad I know.

In between the chocolate binges, I've also been sketching and had so much fun with 6 beautiful Heritage buildings with rose stain glass windows or rose gardens. The new Heritage Cottages - Rose Series will be available on the website as a paper pattern or pre-printed on seeded homespun today. This will be the fourth house series so far.

Teacups

 

Just finished stitching a beautiful little teacup series for a booklet, in time for the launch at the new Brisbane Show next week. Based on cup profiles from the Victoria & Albert Museum catalogues with little Ella roses on them yumm. I painted the roses in a soft permanent watercolour before stitching and its so effective.

But there's more, I have some painted pre printed little stitcheries of single cups left over, so any order before the 25th will receive one as a gift.

Single painted cups will retail at $8 and the little pattern book for $15. I have full sets of painted teacups on homespun and a book for $50 as a show special, these are limited so get in first.

Back to cooking dinner, then more tea related stitching and a Sunday Night Movie with some Rocky Road.

Three Classic Teapots

Just completed these 3 elegant teapots on a Linen teatowel. Worked in a stemstitch for a change as the coarser weave needed a thicker stitch. Available as a reusable Iron-on or a pre-printed stitchery piece. The Linen teatowels are also available. It was heaven to work with the pure Linen. You can find it here

Grandmother stitchery and chocolates

I haven't been idile enjoying stitching this beautiful roses in a heart stitchery about our wonderful Grandmothers. Due out when Ella has more stitching time in Air-conditioning pleasssse and watching TV.

This wonderful box of chocolates came in the mail from Joy's Craftworx in SA to thank me for all the extra goodies that I include with orders. Apparently Joy saves them as a Christmas bonus for her regular customers, so around it goes and I get to eat the rewards.

Also in the chocolate mail came a usefule nailfile that will always remind me of Joy, the saying is a bit of a worry now the credit card statements are coming in.

Now for that cuppa, chocolates and a bit of stitching, and yes the airconditioning.

Roses and Melb Craft Expo

Setting off for the first Melbourne Craft Expo at the wonderful old Exhibition Centre in Carlton Gardens. This is the first of its kind and its ideal for Victorians who need that something extra to finish off Christmas projects or get inspired.

I’m madly stitching the “English Rose “ centrepiece for the new BOM of the same name, it has 10 Rose Stitcheries, 6 Rose quotes and a large centrepiece stitchery of a gorgeous elegant Medieval maiden in her rose garden, stitching of course. Soft pink Japanese Floral fabrics complete this beautiful quilt. I can take names for this BOM and mailing out in November.

Talking of roses, at the Fruit Markets they were selling Roses at $2.50 a bunch, so I bought 4.

Pretty pink roses are such a treat, 2 for me and 1 for each daughter, and I’ve had so much pleasure looking and smelling them all week. Simple pleasures.

October POM is also Rose related. But influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 19^th Century. 4 simple but classic small stitcheries framed in chocolate then with Japanes basket fabric, chocolate ribbon drawstrings with 2 wooden basket toggles. A very unique bag that would make a great gift. These Toggles will be available for the first time at the Melb Craft Expo.

Also made House, Spool, Teapot, Sewing Machineand Work Basket toggles, which are great for finishing off drawstring bags.
